FAQ's

1.) what is the tennessee alcohol beverage commission (tabc)? the state agency that enforces alcohol regulations and licensing laws in tennessee.

2.) what is an abc card? an abc card is a permit issued by the tennessee alcoholic beverage commission (TABC) that allows you to serve liquor by the drink in licensed establishments and events.

3.) How fast can I get my card? You can rest assured that we work very hard to get your card as fast as possible.  We pride ourselves on having the fastest ABC Card processing in the state.

4.) Do I need to sign up to attend a class? YES YOU DO. tHE TABC WILL NOT ALLOW ATTENDANCE WITHOUT SIGNING UP. PLEASE THE top OF THE SCHEDULEd classes PAGE FOR MORE INFORMATION.

5.) How long is the class? The class is five (5) hours, which is mandated by the TABC.  If you go to a class that is less than five (5) hours, you are taking a chance.  if the tabc discovers you attended a class for less than five (5) hours, you will have to pay to take the class all over again; and they will know!!!  They will not issue you a card!!!

6.) How much does it cost? The class is currently $70.00.

7) How old do I have to be to take an ABC Card class? You must be at least eighteen (18) years old.

8.) Can I get my card at the end of class? Unfortunately, trainers CANNOT ISSUE CARDS BECAUSE ALL PROCESSING IS ONLINE.

9.) Can an owner or restaurant manager request that a class be taught at their establishment? Absolutely!  Many do!  Just contact us any way that is convenient for you.  An ABC Cards Fast class can be taught anywhere in Tennessee!

10.) What types of payment do we accept? We accept credit cards, debit cards, cash and company checks.  No personal checks!

11.) Will I receive proof that I attended the class? You will receive a Certificate of Completion once you complete the class, showing that you attended the class and passed the test.

12.) Can I eat during class? Of course!

13.) Can I order an alcoholic beverage during class? According to TABC rules and regulations, it is against the law for ANYONE to consume an alcoholic beverage during an ABC Card class; including breaks!

14.) Can I work right after taking the class? That will be up to your ownership or management to decide.

15.) How long is my ABC Card good for? Your card is good for five (5) years.

16.) Can I take the class if I have a felony? you must not have had a felony in the past four (4) years from its occurence.  

17.) Do I have to take this class if i've taken a similar one in another state?  it depends on which program you took and when.

18.) is there a fee for the server permit?  The server permit is $20.00 and must be paid WHEN YOU SIGN UP THROUGH THE RLPS SYSTEM.  the fee is not included in the class payment.

19.) DO YOU HAVE TO TAKE THE CLASS AGAIN IF YOU HAVE TAKEN IT ONCE ALREADY? ACCORDING TO CURRENT TABC LAWS, THE CLASS MUST BE TAKEN EVERY FIVE YEARS.
